The Beat Of The Street Society (BOSS) is busy fundraising for next year’s Little Woodstock Street Festival. We have one grant application done, and another on the way. We are holding an All Star Jam session at our local Legion to keep up our fellowship with the busking community and other musicians.

This Sunday it will be at No 10 Legion on Harewood Road.

We are actively seeking cool acts for next year in September.

The Little Woodstock West Street Festival 2010 (aftermath)

One year and one day after the first Nanaimo busking Festival, I am a very tired and happy woman.

We began our work the day after we finished last year’s mini festival. We had no money, but a big vision.

The first step was to get a small grant from Nanaimo Parks, Recreation and Culture. We did that. Kudos City Of Nanaimo!

Next step was to find the right team. We did that!

Seven dedicated  “The Beat of The Street Society” volunteers created a theme, found artists, sponsors and made it happen.

We held a “busking Idol” competition at The Red Room Grill and Market hosted by Blue Gambit. Sixteen idols were chosen to play at the Little Woodstock West Street Festival.

Every Idol got a $50.00 paid spot on the festival stage. Nanaimo has got great talent.

A very special thanks to all the musicians and volunteers for your contribution!

We got sunshine from heaven and had a great turnout. We had the native leaders bless the land. We raised money for our special child, Kaiden.

When we were done we paid tribute to our entire musician friends that have passed on, and had a minute of silence in their memory.

A year of planning and two days of setting up and tearing down was worth all the hard work. I look forward to next year.
