Johnny James

Johnny'Johnny has performed extensively on CBC radio and television plus he also was on stage with Don Gillies production of the musical ‘Hair’. Johnny’s strong vocals have been heard with Dutch Mason, Matt Minglewood, as he played the A and AA circuit from the East Coast to West Coast and the USA. The blues guitar is his other strength and he can make it ring! Johnny is registered with the Canadian Composers and Authors. Johnny’s latest challenge has been to bring with the GreyNotes his many original compositions to the recording studio and live audiences.

Cathy Davis

CathyCathy spent most of her life living the blues. Born in St Andrews, Scotland, she moved to Canada in 1966. She debuted on Television with brother James singing ‘Nobody’s Child’. Most appropriate because Cathy was born legally blind.
 
She writes, sings and plays bass and rhythm guitar. Her repertoire includes Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks and Koko Taylor, everything from classic rock to country and jazz standards plus her original compositions.

Bob Garnett

bobBob started drumming as a teenager in Calgary and at seventeen started a three year stint with the Calgary Symphony Orchestra. He when on the road doing the bar and club circuit with various bands all over the country. He got a break with Cameron Molloy’s tour band and recorded some successful pop chart tunes that help improve his income and modes of travel. These tours over the next five years included county fairs, festivals and theatres in many Western States. Bob then worked in the studio plus playing theatres in Vancouver and Calgary. After taking some time off, he moved to the Island and is back playing again with various groups including Blue Gambit and the GreyNotes.

Garnet Hunt

GarnetGarnet has played bass since the 60’s when he was with the VancouverPlayboys. He has for the last 8 years also been playing classic rock with the TimeMachine in Vancouver. Since moving to the Island he has worked on finding the right combination of players to make being an old musician, fun. The GreyNotes are really making that work, with the added bonus of working on Johnny and Cathy’s original compositions.

 Dennis MacFadden

DennisDennis has been playing keyboards since 1960 when he performed at  White Rock’s Panda Club with Les Vogt. He formed the Vancouver Playboys in 1962 and went on to play with the likes of Tom Northcott, Terry Jacks, Kat Hendrikse and others as the band went from 4 to 8 players and through many musical genres. Dennis has been playing for the last number of years with the TimeMachine and in joining the GreyNotes continues his musical partnership with Garnet that dates back to 1962. The combination of his well honed style and Hammond and Yamaha keyboards has brought a new dimension to the GreyNotes sound.
